About the role

As a Building Certifier, you'll play a key role in supporting safe, compliant and high-quality development across the Coffs Coast. Working across a diverse range of residential building projects, you'll assess development applications, undertake inspections, issue certifications and provide trusted technical advice to builders, developers, industry professionals and the community.

This is a highly visible role where your expertise and judgement directly contribute to positive development outcomes while ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and contemporary building standards.

No two days are the same. You'll balance office-based assessment work with on-site inspections, collaborate with a supportive team and help deliver a professional, customer-focused certification service that supports the continued growth of our region.

About you

You are an experienced Building Inspector (Certifier) with demonstrated experience in building certification, development assessment or related building compliance activities.

You combine strong technical knowledge with practical construction experience and can confidently interpret legislative and compliance requirements to support sound decision making. You're equally comfortable conducting site inspections, assessing documentation and providing clear advice to customers and industry professionals.

Most importantly, you're a collaborative and customer-focused professional who can build positive relationships, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

You will ideally bring:

  • Experience undertaking building certification activities, inspections and development assessment.
  • Knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Building and Development Certifiers legislation, National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A commitment to professionalism, continuous learning and customer service excellence.
